Sawteeth Carpentry was founded with a simple but powerful vision: to give homeowners spaces within their homes that they truly love. Over a decade ago, Cole and Julia Starkey set out to turn this dream into reality. Since then, Sawteeth Carpentry has grown into a trusted name, known for its expertise in renovating and remodeling historic homes and commercial spaces across the Champlain Valley and Adirondacks.
Our Specialty
At Sawteeth Carpentry, we specialize in custom new builds and historic renovations. We love working with homeowners to create a design they love and take the project from the planning and demolition phase to the last nail and brush stroke. Our passion is using the best building science in the industry to create energy-efficient and comfortable homes.
Essex is Our Home
In 2015, we fulfilled our dream of returning to upstate New York when we bought our house in Essex. This is the third house we have carefully restored and renovated while also running our own small businesses. We know what it is like to cherish a home, and we will bring that care to your projects. Our home is where Sawteeth was built.
When We’re Not Working
When we're not working, we enjoy exploring Essex with our two dogs and daughter, Penny. We love hiking, paddleboarding on Lake Champlain, and cross-country skiing in winter. Julia, an avid gardener, also owns Julia Rebecca Photography, while Cole enjoys trail running and has climbed all 46 Adirondack high peaks. Together, we make the most of the incredible outdoor beauty in our region.
